On Thursday February 23rd, three SciTech teams participated in the 4th annual Pittsburgh Data Jam. This event hosted students from over 26 area high schools and took place at the University Club on the University of Pittsburgh campus. The purpose of the event was to expose students to real world problems requiring the collection and analysis of very large data sets. Once the student teams conducted their analysis, they were required to make data driven recommendations to address the problem.
Of the five awards given during the competition, one of SciTech’s Data Jam teams stormed into the competition as first time competitors and earned the Second Place award. The team members are Lexie B., David D., Nicholas N., Michael W., Sophia S. and Josh Z. Congratulations to these students as well as the other SciTech Data Jam teams for representing their school with pride.
